Shelf is a Chrome extension that helps you capture, organize, and reuse prompts.
We do not collect or transmit your personal data to our servers. Your prompts and settings stay on your device by default.
If you enable File Storage, your library is saved to a JSON file you choose on your computer.
No account is required to use Shelf.
By default, data is stored in Chrome’s local storage on your device. You can switch to File Storage, export a backup, import a backup, or clear all data from Settings.
Shelf has no cloud dependency for core features.
AI features are off by default. To use them, you add your own API key for a supported provider, then requests go from your device to that provider. You can turn these features off anytime.
If you use image-to-text or prompt enhancement, the content you choose to process is sent to your chosen AI provider under that provider’s terms. Review the output and save only what you want.
Shelf requests only the minimum browser permissions needed to let you save selected text, show a context menu, store data locally, and insert prompts. The extension is built on Manifest V3 and aims to keep permissions minimal.
